The 2007 Cadet World Championships will be hosted by Pwllheli Sailing Club, situated on the south side of the Lleyn Peninsula in North Wales. Pwllheli provides access to some of the best sailing waters in the UK, and offers the spectacular scenery of the Snowdonian mountains as a backdrop. The rugged coastline has also been designated an 'Area of Outstanding National Beauty'. Moreover, the famous Snowdonia National Park offers many opportunities to enjoy a few days away from the sailing in this beautiful part of the country - a great day out on the lay-day. The sailing waters around Pwllheli are amongst the best in the U.K . In Cardigan Bay tidal streams are weak, winds are stable and the scenery is superb. Snowdon and the Welsh mountains providing a magnificent backdrop for any water sport. The sailing waters around Pwllheli are amongst the best in the UK. You will find in Cardigan Bay weak tidal streams and the race area is open to the prevailing winds. The Lleyn Peninsula, Snowdon and the Welsh Mountains provide a magnificent backdrop for the racing. Pwllheli Sailing Club is located in a marina complex at Hafan Pwllheli, protected from the sea, yet only a short sailing distance from the racing area. The Club house is a fairly new building about 150 yards from the pontoons and has full canteen facilities, changing rooms with showers, meeting and protest rooms. There is a large bar area which opens onto a terrace with views over the marina. A marquee will be erected alongside the building to provide added facilities. It is normally a short sail from the launching area to the race course. Launching will be from a wide sheltered beach. The marina has various services and a chandlery on site.
