From Beginner to aspiring Olympian, the RYA Cadet Class is the Worlds’ most successful 2 person training dinghy specifically designed for children and young people. To support all levels of cadet sailors the UKNCCA have established and run training squads supported by coaches with national and world honours.

The squad programme begins with a selector series run over the beginning weeks of the season ( Sept/ Oct ) to ensure sailors are placed with other sailors of similar experience and capability. Squad qualification provides the ideal opportunity for less experienced sailors to take part in big fleet sailing for the first time and helps prep for the season ahead

The RYA run the British Youth Sailing Regional Junior Championships – the programme aims to develop and progress the skills of the children as Cadet Sailors and also supports the aims of the RYA Youth Racing Programme.

Physical Profiling

After review the Physical Profiling will no longer be conducted at Junior level and will be conducted once a year at Youth level.

It will still be a requirement of the RYA UK Youth Squad selection policy and the next Physical Profiling sessions will take place  on the 9th-10th February 2019.

Profiling for windsurfing is currently still under review due to the different physical demands required in order to be successful. Further information will be provided in due course.

More information can be found on the Profiling page on the RYA Website here.
