South Cerney Sailing Club

South Cerney Sailing Club’s junior fleet, known as 96 Cadet Squadron, has been active at South Cerney since the 1960s and has a strong track record for producing capable and competitive young sailors.

Our firm aim is to encourage young people to enjoy sailing, become confident, participate in racing and above all have fun!

On Saturday mornings we provide training and coaching for a mixed ability of junior sailors from complete beginners to RYA National squad level. The majority of coaches come from volunteer parents and club members. We are also very well supported by the RYA Clubs Coaches system because South Cerney Sailing Club is a RYA Youth Championship Club.

Over and above Saturday training the cadets and families enjoy a wide range of optional activities and events both at South Cerney and away. Each summer we run our own Cadet Open, a two day event open to the rest of the UK fleet, and also head off to other competitions and training events around the country. These trips range from lakeside camping to the Cadet Nationals while at home there are regular opportunities to get out on the water throughout the year either for casual sailing or taking part in club races.
