A Very Special Ending to a Very Special Event

Competing nations will select their top sailors to take part in the World Championships, while the accompanying promotional regatta will be open to all. This will give Cadet sailors of all abilities the chance to compete at the 2012 Olympic venue in what will be the experience of a lifetime. Off the water a full programme of social events will make it a holiday to remember for the competitors’ families.

The Cadet is the only double-handed racing dinghy recognized by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) that is sailed exclusively by junior sailors aged 17 and under. Designed by Jack Holt in 1947, the Cadet has introduced thousands of youngsters to dinghy racing and has provided the foundations for the careers of many of the world’s top Olympic sailors. Events across the world are supported by National Class Associations, while here in the UK the Cadet is a mainstay of the Royal Yachting Association’s junior training programme.

From novice crews up to aspiring Olympians, the Cadet World Championships promises to be an unmissable festival of junior sailing. The United Kingdom National Cadet Class Association and their sponsors look forward to welcoming you to Weymouth and Portland in August 2014!
