South Cerney Squadron Report May 2023

It's been an April of 2 halves. A crew away and a crew at home. Very little wind anywhere. However, lots of fun had by all, plus some successes. Burnham saw a select group making the trip to the home of Cadets. It was a calm weekend, but Jemima McMorris & Harriet Davies managed to bag 3rd in Silver fleet, much to their surprise. A small but much needed confidence boost .At home, the rest of the fleet had a great session run by one of our old Cadet members Max, currently at home on leave. Sheppey the next weekend saw a bigger South Cerney fleet. It was a really fun weekend, with mixed success. The highlight for us was Benjy Bullock who managed to get 5 guns across the weekend within Regatta Fleet. I suspect there will be a few glad he's now in Silver. Monty unfortunately just missed out on a place in the World's Team on countback. It's always harsh when you draw on points but then lose out at the last minute. But he's one of the first in a long time to even be in the running, so we are all really proud of him. At home it was paddle boarding rather than sailing. But as we all know any time on the water is good time. And it helps the fleet grow. We're now looking forward to lots of time at home enjoying not travelling and prepping for the South Cerney Open at the end of June.
